Consigning with us is easy!

  1. Create your account online / sign into your account.

  2. Order postage paid thrift bags by searching for thrift bags on our website. Consignment form will be included in your thrift pack.

  3. Fill your thrift bags with your items and complete your consignment form.

  4. Drop your thrift bags at the nearest Post Office.

    If you are local to the area, you don't need thrift bags and can drop your items directly at our warehouse: Unit 9A, 10 Depot Street, Banyo, QLD 4014.  Drop-off times are Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm and Saturdays 10am - 3pm.
    If you prefer to arrange your own packaging and postage, please send your parcels to the above address.  Our consignment form is available below for you to print.

Please download and complete the consignment form below or the one included in your thrift bag. The consignment form must be sent to us together with your items.  We cannot accept your consignment without a signed consignment form.

What to send us:

We accept mid-priced, premium and designer brands. Low cost and fast fashion brands cannot be sold for enough money to make it worth your while or profitable for us to sell, so please do not send them in as they will be rejected. We accept:

  • New and near new womens clothing, activewear, shoes, handbags and accessories.
  • New and unworn swimwear and intimates. Tags and protective liners for these items must be intact.

We encourage our sellers to send in large size clothing as we seek to increase our offering of stylish and on-trend plus-size fashion and brands that will find appeal with discerning customers.  Please note that this excludes brands Taking Shape and City Chic, which we do not accept as they are not in demand and do not sell well.  

Our Quality Standards:

Listing prices and payout percentages are higher for items that are freshly laundered or dry-cleaned before we receive them. We will not list items that are:

  • Damaged or in poor condition (with rips, missing buttons, unraveled seams, pulled threads, pilling, discolouration, stains, marks, fading, lint, pet hair or dust).
  • Showing excessive signs of wear (fading, pilling, stretching, deterioration of fabric fibres). Items will ideally have at least 70% of their wearable life left.
  • Odorous (musty, mouldy, smelling of perfume, cigarette smoke or other strong odours, or have otherwise obviously not been recently laundered).
  • Items that have been altered or repaired (brand, size and/or care instruction labels being removed, tears or rips obviously restitched, or sizing/fit altered from original).  
  • Items that are not on trend or older than three years, as they are not likely to sell. (The Closet will accept genuine vintage items that are older than 20 years provided they meet our other quality standards).
  • Uniforms, costumes, clothing with profane or offensive words or images.

What The Closet does:

  • Carefully inspect every item against our quality standards.
  • Send you an email with details about your consignment including pricing and proposed payout details.
  • Photograph and list the items on our website. 
  • Market items for resale via social media and other digital marketing campaigns.
  • Process sales and makes payments to our sellers.

How do I know how much my items are worth?

We aim to price items so that they are likely to sell within 12 weeks of listing. If they are priced too high, they will not sell and we have to apply heavy discounts in order to move them. We have a very large database of sold items compiled during years of selling online which we consult when pricing items. When calculating our listing price, we consider the RRP of the item, condition, brand and age of items, and what similar items are listed for on other websites.

How much money will I get for my items?

Your payout is a percentage of The Closet's selling price. Payouts are set so that we may recover the cost to us of processing, listing, marketing and selling and make a small profit from selling. It costs us the same amount of money to list low and high price items and therefore your percentage payout will be less for cheaper items. 

We offer payment via up-front payments, payments as and when items sell, or store credit.

What happens to my items that The Closet does not accept or are removed from listing after a period of not selling?

You can indicate on your consignment form whether you want the items that are NOT selected for sale and items that are removed from listing after 4 months :

  • Returned (in which case you will have to bear the shipping costs).
  • Donated to a charity.
